West Closure Complex: Algiers Community Tour

Join the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority- West for a tour and partial scale exercise of the West Closure Complex on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 9 a.m. The WCC is located at 300 E Bayou Rd, Belle Chasse, LA 70037.
Below you’ll find helpful information about the Authority, the WCC, and some instructions for visiting. We strongly suggest that you carpool with neighbors, as parking is limited. We ask that you RSVP here, as parking will limit attendance. If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your RSVP so that others may join.
About the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority West:
The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-West (SLFPA-West) is one of two levee authorities serving metropolitan New Orleans. It provides flood protection for the most populated areas on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Jefferson and Orleans Parishes by building, operating and maintaining flood control systems.
About the West Closure Complex
Helpful Information for WCC Visitors:
- Wear comfortable shoes, there is some walking and stairs.
- Give yourself time to get there– the facility is located just past the Belle Chasse Air Force Base.
- WCC is located on a dirt road. Drive slowly.
- Some parts of WCC are not handicapped accessible.
