Federal City

New Orleans Riverside at Federal City features the U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Reserve (MARFORRES) and Coast Guard Sector bases, as well as military housing, the New Orleans Maritime and Military Academy High School, and LSU Health Fitness Center gym. Old Algiers

The Old Algiers neighborhood features historic, affordable houses and multiple commercial stretches, including the historic Newton Street and Teche Street coordiors. Old Algiers features views of the downtown New Orleans skyline unparalleled in the city, as well as a state-designated Cultural District and qualifying state historic tax credit opportunities. Much of the Algiers Point neighborhood and parts of Federal City fall within a Louisiana State Cultural District and are eligible for historic rehabilitation tax credits. Historic rehabilitation projects located within designated Federal Opportunity Zones may be eligible for additional economic incentives.

City of New Orleans Fresh Food Retailer Initiative

In partnership with HOPE Enterprise Corporation, the City of New Orleans has made $7 million in disaster CDBG funding available to provide direct financial assistance to retail businesses by awarding forgivable and/or low-interest loans to supermarkets, grocery stores, and other fresh food retailers.
