2023 Algiers Career and Educational Development Program Graduation

Algiers Economic Development Foundation is proud to partner with the office of Louisiana State Senator Gary Carter, Jr. to offer the Algiers Career and Educational Development Program (ACED).

This program helps junior and seniors who attend Algiers-based high schools or live in Algiers to identify career pathways, develop key workforce skills and help students create lasting connections within the Algiers community. Participating students work with Jackie Perry, the ACED Program Manager, to be matched with an Algiers-based business, shadow an employee and learn about their industry of interest. Additionally, participating students work with the program staff to develop their resume, write a cover letter, practice their interview skills and prepare a presentation about what they learned about the industry and business they shadowed.

ACED programming takes place on one Saturday in the months of February, March, April, and June.  Participants accepted to the ACED program receive a stipend for each of the sessions they attend in full.
This exciting program wraps up on June 3rd with a graduation celebration at the University of Holy Cross’ Basil Moreau Center starting at 12:00pm. All guests from the community are invited to attend and celebrate the development and knowledge each student has gained during the course of this program!
